Rubens Barrichello did not fail to thank his children, Dudu and Fernando Barrichello, immediately after winning the Overall title of the NASCAR Brazil last Sunday (8th), at the Interlagos Autodrome in São Paulo. The driver, who was also a Brazilian champion in the category, highlighted mainly the role of Dudu in the stage.
The young man took over his father’s car throughout almost the entire weekend: he did training, qualification, and competed in races 1 and 2. Dudu scored the pole position of the stage and, despite abandoning the first race, recovered and guaranteed the victory in the second test, paving the way for Rubens’ title. Right after the race, the new Overall champion praised his children:
“It’s always an effort. I need to thank FullTime for always giving me a competitive car. People may think it’s crazy for me to have run the World Cup in the United Arab Emirates yesterday and be here today competing for the title. I dedicate this to the boys, not just Dudu – who is a ‘monster’ [on the track] – but also to Fernando, who is a gem.”
“I love you, my strength comes from that. It’s a very special title. I got into the car today and didn’t even know how it was going to be, but Dudu told me everything the car was going to do… And the car did everything he said. But more than being well-prepared for the track, they have a characteristic that moves me, which is simplicity and a huge heart. So I thank heaven for that,” Rubinho concluded.
