Brad Benavides secured the pole position for the main race of the final leg of the 2025 Formula 3 season. In a classification defined by groups at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy on Friday, the AIX Racing driver recorded 1min38s120 on his best lap, earning him the top spot for Sunday’s race.
Ugo Ugochukwu, driver for Prema, took the second position after leading the first group on the track but was ultimately surpassed by Benavides by 0s493. Noel León, also from Prema, will start in third, sharing the second row with Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, who came in fourth with Campos Racing. Nikola Tsolov from Campos and Roman Bilinski from Rodin completed the top-6.
Matías Zagazeta, driving a DAMS car, will start from the seventh position, followed by Alessandro Giusti, who came in eighth with MP Motorsport. Tuukka Taponen, driving for ART Grand Prix, will start in ninth, just ahead of Tim Tramnitz, who came in tenth with MP Motorsport. Martinius Stenshorne from Hitech will start in 11th, while Laurens van Hoepen from ART Grand Prix will close out the top-12 group and start at the front in the Sprint.
Brazilian drivers will have to make recovery runs. Fernando Barrichello, who is making his debut in the category this weekend with AIX, was 15th in his group and will start from the 29th position. Meanwhile, Rafael Câmara, the champion of the Formula 3 season and driver for Trident, had initially set the best lap time in the first group but had his time excluded due to track limits and will start from the 30th and last position.
The Formula 3 schedule at Monza will continue on Saturday at 4:15 with the Sprint race. The main event will take place on Sunday at 3:15.
