Fabio Di Giannantonio was the fastest rider on Friday (29) during the free practice sessions for the Italian Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the final of the two sessions held at the Mugello circuit, the VR46-backed Ducati rider and winner of the French GP, which took place two weeks earlier, clocked 1:44.808.
Second place went to Francesco Bagnaia, a Ducati rider who was edged by 0.091 seconds by Di Giannantonio. Enea Bastianini, on a Tech3 KTM, recorded third place, followed by Franco Morbidelli in fourth with the other VR46 Ducati. Fermín Aldeguer, on a Gresini Ducati, completed the top five.
Marc Márquez, back on the grid, was sixth fastest on the Ducati, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi, the world championship leader and rider for Aprilia. Jorge Martín, with the other official Aprilia, was eighth in the times, while Álex Rins, on a Yamaha, was ninth. The list of the ten best also included Diogo Moreira, the Brazilian rider who competes for LCR Honda.
Two riders who are in the top-five of the championship were left out of the day’s top ten in the combined classification. Ai Ogura, on Trackhouse’s Aprilia, finished 11th. Pedro Acosta, on a KTM, was the 13th fastest. Michele Pirro and Cal Crutchlow, who substitute this weekend for Álex Márquez and Johann Zarco respectively, finished 21st and 22nd.
The MotoGP schedule will continue this Saturday (30), first with free practice at 5:10, followed by qualifying at 5:50. The Sprint is scheduled for 10:00. The Italian Grand Prix is scheduled for this Sunday, with a start time set for 9:00.
