Filip Salac clinched the pole position on Saturday the 19th for the Austrian GP, the 15th round of the 2026 Moto2 season. The American Racing Team rider, who had already led Friday’s free practice at the Red Bull Ring, was fastest in the decisive phase of qualifying, clocking 1:32.381 to secure the top spot for the first time since the 2023 Portuguese Grand Prix.
The second position went to Manuel González, the championship leader and Intact GP rider who finished 0.121 seconds behind Salac’s time. The front row will also feature Alex Escrig, riding for KLINT. Iván Ortolá, on an MSI machine, takes fourth position, followed by Izán Guevara, fifth with a Pramac. David Alonso completes the top six aboard a CFMOTO.
Alonso López will start from seventh on a bike prepared by Gresini, opening the third row that also includes Barry Baltus of Fantic Racing and José Antonio Rueda of Ajo. Daniel Holgado will line up tenth with CFMOTO, while Tony Arbolino of Fantic Racing begins 11th. Deniz Öncü, rider for Marc VDS, closes the group of the top 12.
Senna Agius did not have the best qualifying and will have to race back through the field. The rider, who will join the MotoGP grid next year, even contested Q2 but ended up only 15th aboard an Intact GP bike.
The Austrian Moto2 GP will take place on Sunday, with the start scheduled for 7:15 a.m.
