Formula 1 News Today: Mercedes Hits Back at Accusations as McLaren Leads Lap Count

October 11, 2025

Mercedes has denied any irregularities in the front wing of the W15 after their victory in Singapore. The team stated that the component complies with the regulations and rejected any insinuations of illegal flexibility. “There’s nothing illegal on our car,” was the official line, in response to the doubts raised in the paddock after Marina Bay.

In the aftermath of Singapore, Kimi Antonelli set his sights high: helping Mercedes finish 2025 as vice-champions in the Constructors’ Championship. The Italian, who finished fifth in the race, said that the goal is to “convert pace into points” in the final stages, starting with Austin, and reinforced that the recent evolution provides a basis for competing with Ferrari and Red Bull for the top 2.

The team that continues to dominate the aggregate for the year is McLaren: the papaya team is the one that has completed the most laps in 2025 so far — 2,099 laps —, a direct reflection of the efficiency and reliability that supported the early conquest of the Constructors’ title. Ferrari (2,091) appears right behind, with Haas, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Sauber also above 2,000 laps.

Looking ahead to 2026, Carlos Sainz once again bet on the strength of the Mercedes power unit for the new technical era. The Williams driver reinforced that he chose the project, in part, due to his confidence in the German engine, although he acknowledges that the chassis adjustment will remain crucial in the face of rivals like Honda/Aston Martin and Ferrari. “Until the lights go out in Australia, no one knows who’s ahead,” James Vowles noted.

The next stop: the United States Grand Prix in Austin, with a full weekend (including the Sprint). You can follow the live and real-time coverage on F1MANIA.NET.
