F2: Durksen Beats Stenshorne to Win Sprint in Belgium

July 18, 2026

Joshua Durksen won on Saturday (the 18th) the Sprint that opened the eighth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The Paraguayan, driving for Invicta Racing, overtook Martinius Stenshorne on lap 11 of the 18-lap race and, even with a late restart on the final lap, was not threatened, securing his second victory of the year.

Second place went to Stenshorne, the Rodin Motorsport driver finishing six-tenths behind the winner. The podium also featured Dino Beganovic in third for a DAMS car. Championship leader Nikola Tsolov took fourth with Campos Racing, while Alexander Dunne of Rodin Motorsport completed the top five.

Rafael Câmara, Brazilian driver for Invicta Racing, crossed the finish line in sixth after starting from tenth, followed by Roman Bilinski, seventh in a DAMS car. Oliver Goethe, driving for MP Motorsport, was eighth, closing the points-scoring zone, while Sebastian Montoya finished ninth with Prema after starting from pole and dropping to fourth on the final lap. Laurens van Hoepen of Trident took tenth. Emmo Fittipaldi completed the top ten in fourteenth place with AIX.

The race featured two Safety Car interventions. The first occurred when Cian Shields collided with the AIX Racing car after a position challenge with Ritomo Miyata, who had just slipped off the track. Later, on lap 14, John Bennett spun the Trident car by itself and stopped on the circuit, triggering a fresh neutralization.

The race also delivered a significant setback for the championship battle. Gabriele Mini had trouble with MP Motorsport’s equipment and headed to the boxes, bowing out of the fight. The Italian currently sits as the vice-leader in the standings of the main Formula 2 class.
