Formula 2 maintains the expectation of ending the season with the rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, despite the instability in the Middle East. Bruno Michel, the series’ CEO, stated that he does not entertain the possibility of cancellation and reinforced that the championship should conclude according to the planned calendar.
In a press conference on Thursday (the 15th), Michel explained that F2 follows Formula 1’s decisions regarding the two races. The staging of the events remains shrouded in uncertainty given the conflicts in the region, but the executive said the organization is attentive to the conditions required to run the races safely.
“Qatar and Abu Dhabi are on the calendar, and we will finish the championship in Qatar and in Abu Dhabi. We are following Formula 1 on this matter,” Michel stated. He went on to say that the premier category understands the situation and is aware of what must be done to ensure that the two events take place under the best possible conditions.
An alternative for closing the F1 season would be to hold a race in Imola, Italy, should the Middle East events prove unfeasible. There is still no confirmation on how F2 would fit into this scenario, but Michel publicly ruled out removing Qatar and Abu Dhabi from the calendar.

“I can now say that we want to end the season there, without a doubt. That is what Formula 1 is doing too, and that is the direction we are following,” he said.

The potential interruption of the championship would have a direct impact on the fight for the F2 title. If the Middle East rounds were canceled and no substitute race were held in Imola, Rafael Câmara (today announced as Haas’ full-time F1 driver for 2027) could be declared champion before the originally scheduled end.
Michel acknowledged that such an outcome would be undesirable. “It would be very sad. I don’t think this will happen, and it wouldn’t be good to return and say that the champion was decided a month ago, but that now we can crown someone,” he concluded. The official reiterated that the aim of the series is to complete the season according to the original plan.
