F2: Câmara Overcomes Incident, Delivers Flying Lap to Take Pole in Monaco

June 5, 2026

Rafael Câmara clinched on Friday (the 5th) the pole position for the fourth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season. In the session held this morning on the street circuit built in Monte Carlo, Monaco, the Invicta Racing driver recorded 1:20.923, after seeing his team adjust the car following a brush with the wall; he led the first group and was not surpassed in the second, securing the top spot for Sunday’s race.

The second position in the grid went to Nikola Tsolov, Campos Racing driver who clocked 1:21.053, the fastest in the second group of drivers. From there, due to a regulation specific to this round, positions are alternated with the faster group occupying the odd-numbered grid spots, while the rest line up on even-numbered positions.

Alexander Dunne, driving for Rodin Motorsport, will start from third place, while Martinius Stenshorne, his teammate, begins in fourth. The group of the five best on the main race grid will also feature Gabriele Mini, the championship leader and the driver defending MP Motorsport.

Kush Maini, of ART Grand Prix, will start sixth, while Noel León, in a Campos Racing car, begins seventh, opening a fourth row that will also include Roman Bilinski, eighth on the grid with a DAMS car. Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, from ART Grand Prix, starts ninth, while Joshua Durksen, for Invicta, completes the top 10 and goes into the Sprint with the better starting position. Emmo Fittipaldi will start 20th with AIX Racing.

The session was interrupted on several occasions. John Bennett, driving a Trident, hit the barrier with just under four minutes left in the first group. Earlier, Rafael Câmara had struck the wall and headed to the pits to repair the Invicta car, without triggering a red flag.

In the second group, Laurens van Hoepen found himself stopped in the chicane after the tunnel after being touched by Kush Maini, causing another red flag. The Dutchman stayed off-track, while the Indian was able to return to the track and stay in action.

The Formula 2 schedule will feature the Sprint race this Saturday (5), starting at 9:15. The main race will take place on Sunday at 4:25.
