The current Formula 3 champion and Formula 2 rookie, Brazilian driver Rafael Câmara, was the fastest pilot in two of the three pre-season testing days held this week at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Behind the wheel of the Invicta Racing team car, Câmara set the fastest lap time of the tests with 1min23s252, on the morning of this Thursday.
“I’m very happy with the test results. It’s good to be back in the car after a long break. We had positive days in Barcelona and worked well as a team. We were able to try many different things and understand the direction we want to take,” says Câmara, who completed 211 laps over the last three days.
The Brazilian driver had already driven the Formula 2 car in tests held in December last year in Abu Dhabi, when he was also among the fastest. Despite being confident for his debut, the Brazilian driver remembers that the conditions in Spain were very different from those that the drivers will face in the season opener.
“Obviously, it’s not very representative due to the cold, but I think we’re in a good position for the start of the season. We’ll continue working to be in good shape for Melbourne,” says Câmara, who is a member of the Ferrari Drivers’ Academy.
The 2026 championship will kick off on March 6, 7, and 8, with the Australian stage in Melbourne.
