The session was marked by interruptions. Just eight minutes into qualifying, Amaury Cordeel hit the wall, damaging the Rodin car and stopping on the track. The race direction was forced to raise the red flag to remove the vehicle and clean the track. Later, with four minutes to go, Victor Martins stopped at the protection barrier, paralyzed the activity.
After a long stop, the qualifying session was resumed, but soon Roman Stanek went off the track and, when returning, strongly hit John Bennett’s car, which was on a fast lap. With one minute left to complete the 30-minute session, the race direction ended the qualifying session on the circuit set up on the streets of the Azerbaijani capital.
The Azerbaijan stage of Formula 2 will feature the Sprint dispute on Saturday (20), starting at 7:15. On Sunday, the main race will take place at 4:00.
