The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) presented to the teams the results of the 2026 Formula 1 engine performance assessment, but a re-evaluation will be required. The reason is a request for review filed by Red Bull after the study concerning the ADUO system (Additional Development and Update Opportunities).
According to the Motorsport portal, the manufacturer requested a fresh verification of the data used by the federation to confirm that the engine hierarchy is correct. Although it cannot formally challenge the study, the team asked for a reanalysis of the numbers before the official disclosure.
According to internal sources, the Red Bull-Ford engine was classified as the reference among turbo V6 engines. Mercedes appears right behind, with a difference exceeding 2%, which gives it the right to a 2026 update and another in 2027. Ferrari, Audi and Honda register a lag above 4%, allowing two evolutions in 2026 and two more in 2027.
The FIA has already begun a new check of the data, including the review of sensors and the information collected. This is the second analysis conducted by the body, since technicians had reviewed the numbers before presenting the results to the manufacturers. Internally, the FIA’s conviction is that the results will not change. Still, the federation seeks to guarantee maximum transparency and avoid potential controversies.
The information that a letter had been sent to the teams before the Monaco Grand Prix began circulated during the event and was later confirmed by Lewis Hamilton. The expectation is that the new review will be completed in about 10 days.
