F1 Mexican and Las Vegas Grand Prix Preview: Alonso Expects Challenging Races in Mexico and Las Vegas

September 23, 2025

Fernando Alonso is already anticipating some difficult stages until the end of the 2025 Formula 1 season. The Spanish driver indicated that tracks like Mexico and Las Vegas have characteristics that do not match the Aston Martin car.

In the Azerbaijan GP last weekend, the two-time champion struggled. Starting 11th on the grid, he missed the start by following Oscar Piastri’s move, was punished with a 5-second penalty, and finished only 15th.

Then, after the race, he made an assessment that the car did not fit the circuit and that it should not perform well in some of the next seven stages until the end of the championship.

“I think we have a car with certain characteristics. Not those of Monza, not those of Baku, and not those of Las Vegas or Mexico. I suspect that in Las Vegas and Mexico, we will be at the back of the grid,” he explained after Baku.

“There are four more races in which I hope we can take advantage of the opportunities and score some points,” he concluded.
