Charles Leclerc stated that he is fine after the severe crash suffered at the Italian Grand Prix of Formula 1. The Monégasque driver lost control of the Ferrari while contesting position with Oscar Piastri and hit the barrier at the final corner of Monza.
Despite the violence of the impact, Leclerc managed to exit the car on his own. After being assessed by the circuit’s doctor, he revealed that he experienced vision problems in the first minutes after the crash, which led to the need for further examinations before the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.
In a publication on social media, however, the driver indicated he was in good condition. “It didn’t end the weekend the way I wanted. Thank you for all the messages. Physically, it was a strong impact, but I’m fine,” he stated.
Leclerc also highlighted the emotional weight of the crash occurring in front of the Ferrari crowd. “Emotionally, it hurts even more when something like this happens here at home, in front of all of you, the tifosi. Thank you for the amazing reception and for the support throughout the weekend. Monza with you is always something very special.”
The final confirmation regarding his participation in Madrid still depends on the additional assessments mentioned by the driver after the race. Leclerc enters the upcoming weekend in fifth place in the drivers’ standings.
