F1 Brazilian Grand Prix: Albon and Sainz Seek Recovery After Challenging Saturday at Interlagos

November 8, 2025

Williams had a complicated Saturday. Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz failed to score points in the sprint race of the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix, in addition to not making it to the top-10 in the main event’s qualifying. Albon finished only 12th, while Sainz will start 15th at the Interlagos circuit.

Albon explained that the Sprint did not bring points and that the final incident, when he was hit by debris from Gabriel Bortoleto’s Sauber car, forced a change of the floor of his car. “We made good changes and took a step forward with the car, but that didn’t show much. We still don’t have the balance we’re looking for, and that’s making us wear out the tires too much.

“We saw the same thing in the Sprint, so we need to analyze that and understand our race pace better, because the middle of the grid is very tight now. But I’m very happy that Gabi [Bortoleto] is okay; it was a strong accident,” the driver concluded.

Sainz also commented on the difficult weekend. He said it has been complicated to find performance, especially in longer-radius corners, and that despite changes to the setup, he didn’t feel comfortable in the car. “Tomorrow’s competitive order is quite out of the ordinary, so we’ll see what we can do with strategy to try to score points. I always get more optimistic for Sunday, so we’ll keep fighting until the end.”

The start of the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix takes place this Sunday, 9, at 2 pm Brasília time.
