The Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, driving for Audi, was the fastest driver on the second and final day of development tire tests for Formula 1 for the 2027 season. Pirelli’s testing activity took place on Wednesday (29) at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary and also included Argentine Franco Colapinto of Alpine.
During the session, the drivers evaluated different versions of the C3, C4, and C5 compounds used by the category. The work included qualifying simulations as well as race-pace tests. With higher track temperatures compared to the first day of activity, the surface of the track reached a maximum asphalt temperature of 59°C.
Bortoleto ended the day at the top of the time sheet by posting a 1:19.917. The Brazilian completed 116 laps around the circuit, totaling 508 kilometers traveled. Colapinto, for his part, finished the session with a 1:20.139 after 139 laps, accumulating 609 kilometers.
Over the two days of testing at the Hungaroring, Pirelli also counted with the participation of Jak Crawford, Aston Martin’s reserve driver, who took part on Tuesday. In total, the sessions produced 660 laps completed and 2,892 kilometers of data gathered for tire development.
The next dry-weather tire development activity for Pirelli is scheduled for August 26-27 at the Mugello circuit in Italy, a few days after the Dutch GP, which marks Formula 1’s return following the European summer break.
