Alex Albon has confirmed that he will remain with Williams for the 2027 Formula 1 season, even after a frustrating year for the team. The driver believes that the current difficulties are not enough to alter his view of the project.
In 2026, Williams hoped to leverage the regulation change to move forward on the grid, but ended up facing a pronounced setback. The situation prompted the team to reassess its timelines to return to contending for top positions, but Albon asserts that a single difficult year does not alter his faith in the work undertaken since his arrival.
“A tough year doesn’t tell the full story of what I’ve experienced with Williams, and I’ve seen progress year after year. It’s clear that this has been a frustrating year so far, but it doesn’t make me stop believing in this team, in its ambitions, and in what I believe it can achieve,” Albon said.

For the Thai-British driver, the problems faced in 2026 also triggered a significant response within the organization. Albon highlighted the effort made at the factory to understand the difficulties and believes that this process can help address the limitations that have plagued the car for years.
“Although it was a difficult year, the response from the factory and the work done to understand our problems were enormous. In many ways, it seems we needed this challenging moment to accelerate some of the more aggressive plans and to fix the car’s fundamental issues that have held us back for years,” he added.

He went on, saying that he had never seen Williams tackle a problem with such intensity since he joined the team: “I truly believe we will find the reasons behind these difficulties,” concluded Albon, who now also envisions remaining with the team through 2027.
