Diogo Moreira Celebrates Moto2 Title and Sends Message to MotoGP: See You Next Year

December 2, 2025

Diogo Moreira celebrated his conquest of the Moto2 world title, achieved on Sunday (16th) with an 11th place finish at the Valencian Community Grand Prix, held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. The rider of the number 10 bike from Italtrans needed a 14th place finish to become champion, and he saw his rival in the championship, Manuel González, abandon the competition.

Immediately after the end of the race in Valencia, Moreira celebrated with people wearing number 10 jerseys from the history of Brazilian football, with names like Pelé, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Neymar on the back. Then, Diogo kicked a ball away, celebrating the conquest. The Brazilian then spoke with journalists shortly after the race.

“I’m very happy. I have no words to describe. The only thing I can say to the people who have supported me since last year is thank you very much. Now, we have to enjoy this moment. I thank everyone and we’ll see you next year,” said Diogo Moreira, shortly after the end of the test that earned him the Moto2 world title, remembering that he will compete in MotoGP.

The achievement is historic for Brazilian motorsport. Never before had a Brazilian rider won a category in the Motorcycling World Championship until Moreira’s title this year. Considering car championships on asphalt, Diogo is the first world champion since Ayrton Senna, who won the F1 title in 1991, since Formula E, which had Nelson Piquet Jr. and Lucas Di Grassi as champions, was not recognized by the FIA as a World Championship at the time.

Moreira had a campaign with four victories, achieved in the Netherlands, Austria, Indonesia, and Portugal, in addition to nine podiums and seven pole positions. More than that, Diogo became the rider to star in the greatest comeback in Moto2 history, as he left the French Grand Prix, the sixth round of the championship, with a 61-point deficit to the leader of the standings at that time, Manuel González, who in the same period had won three times and achieved five podiums.

The title marks the end of Moreira’s trajectory in Moto2. The Brazilian will compete in the 2026 MotoGP season, defending the LCR, a satellite team of Honda.
