Rosberg Blames Leclerc in Mexico, Says Vasseur Must Start Acting

November 3, 2026

Nico Rosberg stated that Ferrari needs to take action after the clash between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at the start of the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix last weekend.

The seven-time champion started from pole position at the Hermanos Rodríguez, and when the lights went out, the Monégasque driver tried to leap forward. However, he cut the first corner and, instead of yielding the position, remained at the front of the pack and, later, received a penalty.

Hamilton wasn’t happy, and so was Frederic Vasseur, while Leclerc attempted to share the blame between the two drivers. Speaking on the matter, the 2016 Formula 1 World Champion attributes the fault to Charles.

“It’s curious, the blame always lands on Charles, right? It’s never Lewis’s fault. On the latest occasions, at Monza it was Charles, and here too it was Charles,” he told Sky Sports F1.

F1: Rosberg sees Leclerc’s fault in Mexico and says Vasseur "needs to start acting"

“Fred Vasseur really needs to start taking action. Once again, as Lewis mentioned before the race, there was no discussion, no clear guidelines for how the two should contest their battle. This must happen; otherwise, the situation will keep going like this. It becomes very bad when the drivers decide to resolve things on their own, ignoring what has been agreed, and proceed to confront each other on track, even pushing the other out of the way.”

This can happen very quickly, and, in a sense, it is already happening. In the first wheel-to-wheel duel they had at turns 2 and 3, Charles rode over the kerb and swerved toward Hamilton; he did not keep his line. Therefore, on Charles’s part, that was an overstep,” he concluded.
