Rafael Câmara is set to drive for Haas in the 2026 Formula 1 season. That is the claim of the site “RacingNews 365,” a publication that nails the Brazilian’s signing as a Haas regular, the current Formula 2 leader backed by Ferrari, as the American team’s official driver, taking Esteban Ocon’s seat, who will depart the Kannapolis-based squad at the end of this year. The announcement is expected to be made this week.
Câmara recently underwent Haas TPC tests involving other drivers, such as Jack Doohan, Leonardo Fornaroli and Ryo Hirakawa, with the Brazilian, according to information from GE, being the fastest among the drivers, beating the time of the incumbent and potential future teammate, Oliver Bearman.

The team had reportedly been weighing the Brazilian against the Australian who took part in a handful of races between 2024 and 2025. According to RacingNews 365, the choice for Câmara was made during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend held this Sunday. In addition to Haas’s backing, the driver will also enjoy support from Brazilian sponsors.
With Câmara’s imminent arrival on the grid, Brazil will have two drivers on the Formula 1 grid for the first time since 2016, when Felipe Nasr completed his two-year stint in the category with Sauber, while Felipe Massa drove for Williams. The Pernambuco-born driver will also become the second Brazilian to race for Haas, since Pietro Fittipaldi drove two races in 2020, in place of Romain Grosjean.
Formula 1 continues in two weeks with the United States Grand Prix, scheduled for the Circuit of the Americas.
