Named the breakout driver of NASCAR Brasil’s last season, Tito Giaffone took part in the opening practice sessions for this weekend’s round at Circuito dos Cristais, in Curvelo (MG), and assessed the challenges teams face to dial in a good setup for what is the championship’s only oval circuit.
“It was a different Friday, since it’s an oval circuit and the setup changes a lot, so we studied to try to find the best balance for the car because the two corners are very different,” Tito, who drives the No. 15 car for Giaffone Mission Zero/ Full Time Sports, said.
Tito finished fourth in the extra practice and later closed out his group in eighth place in the opening practice session.
“We are analyzing where we can improve for tomorrow, but overall I think we’re a bit lacking in turns 3 and 4, though that’s a matter of confidence that, with time, the driver will adapt to the track. We usually save more risk for the qualifying laps, but this Friday we’ve been making a lot of progress and I think tomorrow we’ll be better,” Tito concludes.
The Curvelo round of NASCAR Brasil continues on Saturday with the second practice session at 10:10 a.m., and the qualifying is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. The Race 1 will take place at 9:00 a.m. and Race 2 is set for 2:10 p.m. SBT, ESPN, Disney+ and YouTube will broadcast the event.
