Laurent Mekies reiterated that Red Bull will not force Isack Hadjar’s return to his Formula 1 car unless the Frenchman is completely comfortable with his wrist.
During the F1 break, the driver sustained an injury. Since then, he has missed all the races: the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, and his return remains a mystery.
Next week, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix takes place, and Mekies said there is no need to rush Hadjar back — Liam Lawson has been his substitute in the races.
“There is nothing wrong with Isack’s recovery. I believe we learned that this is, fundamentally, the normal timeline for the type of injury he suffered,” he said.
“Therefore, we will maintain the same approach we have been taking. We will assess the situation in about a week. We have a little more than a full week to evaluate his condition and see how he feels,” he added.
