Wednesday was a busy day in Formula 1, with the release of the 2027 calendar as the main news of the day. The upcoming season will have 24 rounds, will start in Bahrain, and will feature a record ten Sprint races, in addition to the returns of Portugal and Turkey to the championship.
For Brazilian fans, the announcement brought an important novelty: the São Paulo Grand Prix will be contested from November 5 to 7 and will host the Sprint again. Interlagos will reach six editions of the short race since the format’s creation, remaining the circuit that has hosted a Sprint in Formula 1 the most times.

The future of Madring also remained in the spotlight after the troublesome debut of the Spanish Grand Prix. Toto Wolff revealed that the organizers have already been in talks with the FIA about changes to the track layout to improve overtaking, while Lando Norris suggested removing corners 18 and 19 and creating a longer straight to a hairpin. The first race had only four meaningful overtakes after the opening lap.
Meanwhile, an unusual change in Formula 2 increased questions about the conclusion of the 2026 season. The Baku round will feature two qualifying sessions and two Feature Races, in addition to the Sprint. Officially, the expansion aims to fit into the schedule, but it comes amid uncertainties about the planned final rounds for Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
At Ferrari, Fred Vasseur revealed that about 80% of the current development could be carried over to the 2027 project. The executive also stated that the team will continue working on the SF-26 and pointed out that performance in a lap is an area that still needs to evolve, even though he regards the race pace as competitive.
Max Verstappen also gained space in the news with the new calendar. The 2027 dates do not clash with the Nürburgring 24 Hours and Spa, leaving the Dutch driver free to race both events if he chooses to participate. On Wednesday, he also won the “Max vs 100” challenge at Silverstone, beating more than 100 rivals after starting from 101st.
