Senna Agius emerged as the fastest rider on Friday, the 11th, during the free practice sessions for the San Marino Grand Prix, the 14th round of the Moto2 championship. In the final of the two sessions held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy, the Intact GP rider logged his best lap at 1:34.142, not being overtaken by rivals.
As the championship leader, Manuel González finished in second place, 0.120s behind Agius, his teammate. David Alonso, on an Aspar machine, ended Friday with the third-best time, ahead of Collin Veijer, who was fourth on a bike prepared by Ajo. Daniel Holgado, with Aspar, was the fifth fastest.
Tony Arbolino completed the day in sixth place aboard a Fantic Racing motorcycle, a team that saw Barry Baltus finish seventh. Izán Guevara, from Pramac, was eighth fastest, while Alonso López, at Gresini, ended ninth. The group of the top ten also included Filip Salac, riding for American Racing Team.
The last of the two sessions of the day, where the fastest times were set, also defined the other four riders who advance directly to Q2 in Misano. In addition to the ten already mentioned, the list includes Celestino Vietti, of SpeedRS, Ángel Piqueras, of MSI, Iván Ortolá, also with MSI, and Alberto Ferrandez, of Pramac.
The Moto2 schedule in Misano continues on Saturday. From 4:25 a.m. the final free practice of the weekend will take place, while the qualifying is scheduled for 8:40 a.m. The San Marino Grand Prix starts at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday.
