Marco Bezzecchi clinched pole position this Saturday (12) for the San Marino Grand Prix, the 14th round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the final phase of qualifying at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, in Italy, the Aprilia rider registered a best lap of 1m29.982s, breaking the circuit record and taking the top spot for both the Sprint and the main race.
The second place went to Marc Márquez, the Ducati rider who was beaten by 0.198 seconds. Fermín Aldeguer, who advanced from Q1 aboard Gresini’s Ducati, completes the front row of the starting grid. Fabio Di Giannantonio, another Ducati this time from VR46, starts fourth, followed by the championship leader Jorge Martín, fifth on an Aprilia. The top six also featured Luca Marini, riding for Honda.
Pedro Acosta placed KTM in seventh on the starting grid, forming a third row that also includes Franco Morbidelli aboard VR46’s Ducati and Álex Márquez, likewise on a Ducati but for Gresini. Raúl Fernández, on Trackhouse’s Aprilia, starts tenth, while Johann Zarco, with LCR Honda, qualified eleventh. Pol Espargaró, riding Tech3’s KTM, closes the list of the top 12.
The disappointment of the qualifying was Francesco Bagnaia, who crashed still in Q1 and never managed to place among the two best across the 15 minutes of the first run determining the grid. The Ducati rider will start from 14th. Diogo Moreira, on LCR’s Honda, will start one spot back, in 15th, for both the Sprint and the main race. Álex Márquez tumbled again with the clock showing zero.
The session that set the grid positions featured crashes at Misano. At the start of Q2, Álex Márquez tumbled off the Gresini Ducati. With less than two minutes remaining, Fabio Di Giannantonio fell at turn 4 on the VR46 Ducati, ending the session and leaving the classification as is.
From 10:00 a Sprint will take place at Misano to cap the weekend. The San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (the 13th).
