MotoGP’s grid for the 2027 season is nearly built. Following the announcement of Nicolo Bulega, the current World Superbike champion, joining VR46, there remain three openings for next year’s premier class, with spots at Honda, LCR, and Tech3.
What stands out is that none of the 11 teams on the grid is expected to retain the exact two riders contesting this year’s championship. The eight teams with confirmed duos are undergoing at least one change among their riders, while Honda, with Fabio Quartararo, and Tech3, with Luca Marini, have already seen adjustments as well.
The only team that could still preserve its current duo is LCR, which has Johann Zarco confirmed but remains unsure about Diogo Moreira’s future. The Brazilian, however, is widely tipped to be Quartararo’s teammate in Honda’s official factory squad next year.
The arrival of riders who are currently racing in Moto2 this year is also notable. Daniel Holgado is confirmed in MotoGP through Gresini, while Izán Guevara will defend Pramac in 2027. Additionally, David Alonso has a contract with Honda for next year and will compete for the official seat with Moreira.
This weekend, MotoGP heads to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the San Marino Grand Prix, the 14th round of the 2026 season. Check out how the grid looks for the 2027 championship:
