Ferrari is gearing up a special tribute to Michael Schumacher for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The team will deploy a commemorative paint scheme on the SF-26, reflecting the German’s legacy in Formula 1 and within the Scuderia itself.
This initiative is still treated as Ferrari’s preparation, with hints about the tribute being dropped through social media posts. The homage is also tied to two significant anniversaries in Schumacher’s relationship with the Italian team.
According to AutoRacer, the car design is expected to pair red and black elements with golden wheels, a visual nod to Ferrari’s F310 from 1996. This year’s Italian Grand Prix will mark thirty years since Schumacher’s first victory with Ferrari, achieved precisely in 1996, and two decades since his last win in F1, in 2006.
Ferrari also plans other actions to celebrate the German driver before the race and throughout the Monza weekend. Schumacher claimed five consecutive titles with the team between 2000 and 2004, and he won 72 of his 91 races with the Maranello squad.
Monza holds a special place in this journey. Schumacher won the Italian Grand Prix five times with Ferrari, and in 2006 he announced his first retirement right after triumphing at the Italian circuit.
The German ended his Formula 1 career with seven world titles, a record he now shares with Lewis Hamilton. The Briton, who now races for Ferrari, earned his first victory with the team in Barcelona in June, and sits third in the standings, 59 points behind Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes.
