Max Verstappen has chosen to adopt a more modest stance when discussing the growth of motorsport and Formula 1 in the Netherlands, saying he does not want to take credit for it.
The Dutchman entered the grid in 2015 at only 17 years old. As the seasons progressed, he developed, piling up numbers, records, and titles, quickly becoming the country’s leading driver.

“Above all, I think it’s great to see that motorsport is really alive in the Netherlands. Personally, I don’t need to take the credit for it. Fortunately, there are also Dutch drivers who, overall, are doing well across various categories and creating a big impact in Assen and Zandvoort. The sport is very much alive, and I think that’s excellent,” he continued.
When asked why he does not want to take the credit, he pointed out that “I don’t need to go shouting this from the rooftops. And it isn’t something that matters all that much. The most important thing is to see that motorsport is thriving now and that the youngsters are dreaming of motorsport and of Formula 1. Of course, Formula 1 is the pinnacle, but even below it there are many enjoyable things to do in motorsport.”
