Gabriele Mini triumphed on Saturday the 25th in the Sprint race that formed the ninth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, run at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary. The MP Motorsport driver, currently runner-up in the standings, entered a tense duel with Sebastian Montoya and took the lead on lap 17 of the 28-lap affair, securing the victory.
The second place went to Dino Beganovic, the DAMS driver who couldn’t match Mini’s pace, finishing more than three seconds behind the winner. The podium was completed by Laurens van Hoepen in third for Trident after fending off Rafael Câmara, who finished fourth after starting ninth with Invicta Racing.
Kush Maini, of ART Grand Prix, finished fifth, followed by his teammate, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, in sixth. Joshua Durksen of Invicta Racing took seventh, ahead of Martinius Stenshorne, who completed the points in eighth for Rodin Motorsport. Emmo Fittipaldi finished 20th with AIX Racing.
The championship leader, Nikola Tsolov, retired from the race after clashing with Sebastian Montoya while attempting to advance to second place. The two collided after the Campos Racing driver from Bulgaria tried an overtaking maneuver, forcing both to retire and triggering the Virtual Safety Car.
The Hungarian round of Formula 2 will be concluded on Sunday (26) with the main race, which starts at 6:25 a.m.
