F2: Câmara Takes Pole With Flying Lap at Silverstone

The Brazilian Rafael Câmara secured pole position for the seventh round of Formula 2, scheduled to be held at the Silverstone Circuit in England. The Invicta Racing driver was the quickest in the qualifying held on Friday morning (the 3rd), posting a time of 1:39.690 in the closing minutes and claiming the top spot for the third time this year.

The runner-up on the grid was Alexander Dunne, the Rodin driver, who was outpaced by Câmara by 0.201 seconds. Kush Maini, piloting for ART Grand Prix, starts third and will line up on the second row on Sunday alongside Roman Bilinski, who will start fourth for DAMS. Nikola Tsolov, the championship’s vice-leader, claimed fifth in a Campos Racing car.

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, for ART Grand Prix, will line up sixth, while Joshua Durksen, Câmara’s teammate, will start seventh. Rafael Villagómez of Van Amersfoort finished eighth, and Ritomo Miyata of Hitech was ninth. Gabriele Mini, with MP Motorsport and the championship leader, completes the top 10 and will take the sprint lead.

Another Brazilian on the Formula 2 grid, Emmo Fittipaldi, had a relatively modest session in Silverstone this morning and will start 21st in the AIX Racing car.

The Formula 2 schedule will continue on Saturday with the Sprint, scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Sunday will feature the main race, with a start at 7:15 a.m.
