MotoGP leader Marco Bezzecchi is out of the Czech Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2026 season. The Aprilia rider was suspended after physically assaulting an official shortly after the crash he suffered during the Sprint held this Saturday (20) at the Brno circuit. As a result, the Italian could lose the lead in the standings in Sunday’s race.
According to the stewards, Bezzecchi shoved and assaulted the officials when trying to recover his motorcycle to rejoin the Sprint. The Italian was charged under Article 3.3.2.2 of the regulations, which defines it as a “conduct prejudicial to the sport.”
Aprilia filed an appeal against Bezzecchi’s suspension from the Czech round of the championship, but the appeal was unsuccessful. The team may still appeal to the International Court of Appeal (CAI) of the Fédération Internationale de Motociclismo, but did not reveal whether it had filed for the suspensive effect.
With four wins in the current MotoGP season, Bezzecchi leads the championship with 180 points, 15 points ahead of his teammate, Jorge Martín. A second place would put the Spaniard at the top of the standings.
The Czech Grand Prix will be contested this Sunday, starting at 9:00.
