David Alonso was the fastest rider in Friday’s free practice for the Czech Grand Prix, the ninth round of the 2026 Moto2 season. The Colombian rider from the Aspar team posted on his best lap at the Brno circuit a time of 1:58.511, not being overtaken by his rivals and securing a direct spot to Q2 in the classification.
The runner-up position belonged to Filip Salac, a rider for American Racing Team who was 0.018 seconds behind Alonso. Manuel González, the championship leader and a rider for Intact GP, wrapped up the day with the third-quickest time, ahead of Daniel Holgado in fourth on an Aspar machine. Senna Agius, also with Intact GP, completed the top five.
Alex Escrig, on a KLINT bike, finished the day with the sixth-best time, ahead of Izan Guevara, seventh on a Pramac machine. Collin Veijer, from Ajo, completed the session with the eighth-fastest time, while Iván Ortolá, from MSI, was ninth. The group of the ten fastest also included José Antonio Rueda, from Ajo.
The Friday results also determined the riders who directly qualified for Q2. In addition to the ten previously mentioned, the list is completed by Taiyo Furusato of Team Asia, Zonta van der Goorbergh of RW Racing Team, Joe Roberts of American Racing Team, and Celestino Vietti of SpeedRS.
The Moto2 schedule foresees one more free practice session at 4:25, and the qualifying is slated for 8:40. The Czech Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 7:15.
