
Alessandro Pier Guidi, driving for Ferrari, led the warmup session ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the Italian marque filling the first two spots on the timesheets.
In a relatively routine 15-minute run, Guidi posted a best lap of 3:26.540 in the No. 51 Ferrari 499P, a car he shares with James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi, which was enough to top the times by 0.356 seconds over Antonio Fuoco’s sister No. 50 machine.
Third-quickest was Sebastien Buemi aboard the No. 8 Toyota TR010 Hybrid with a 3:27.001, 0.461 seconds adrift of Guidi.
Alpine’s leading A424, the No. 36 entry, claimed fourth with Frederic Makowiecki at the wheel, followed by Daniel Juncadella in the No. 19 Genesis GMR-001 and the second Toyota, the No. 7, in which Mike Conway posted the best time for that car.
Best among the Cadillac V-Series.Rs was the No. 38 Hertz Team JOTA machine driven by Earl Bamber, eighth, behind Ferdinand Habsburg’s No. 35 Alpine.
BMW’s pole-winning No. 15 M Hybrid V8 managed only 12th, driven by Kevin Magnussen, about 2.6 seconds off the pace.
Of the 18-hypercar field, two entries did not set a time: the No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari and the No. 94 Peugeot 9X8.
In LMP2, Alexander Quinn led CrowdStrike Racing by APR in the Oreca 07 Gibson with a lap of 3:37.111, nine thousandths of a second faster than Mathias Beche in the No. 14 TDS Racing Oreca.
The No. 28 IDEC Sport entry, which is set to start from pole, was third-fastest with Job van Uitert behind the wheel, ahead of the No. 29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca driven by Esteban Masson, a car that had topped Hyperpole but will begin from second after a penalty.
TF Sport-run Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs dominated the LMGT3 field, occupying the top two spots as Jonny Edgar posted a best of 3:54.825 in the No. 33 entry, with Le Mans debutant Ben Green in the JMR-branded No. 2 Corvette close behind.
Third-fastest in LMGT3 was Maxime Martin’s No. 61 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
Among the 62 entries that will contest the race, only the 13 Autosport Corvette did not exit the garage during the 15-minute session.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is slated to start at 4 p.m. local time (10 a.m. EST).
