González Beats Salac to Win the Moto2 Hungarian Grand Prix

June 7, 2026

Manuel González won this Sunday (the 7th) the Hungarian GP, the eighth round of the 2026 Moto2 season, held at the Balaton Park circuit. The Intact GP rider fought a strong duel with Filip Salac, took the lead on lap 12 of the 22 that the race featured, and went on to triumph for the third time in a row in the intermediate class of the MotoGP World Championship.

The runner-up position went to Salac, rider of the American Racing Team, who had led at the start but finished more than a second behind González. Senna Agius, from Intact GP, took third after fending off attacks from David Alonso, with the Aspar squad placing fourth as Daniel Holgado completed the top five.

Izan Guevara, who started from pole position and needed to complete a long lap, finished sixth with Pramac, just ahead of Celestino Vietti, seventh with SpeedRS. Alonso López crossed the finish line eighth with Gresini, while Alberto Ferrández, of Pramac, was ninth. The top ten was completed by Tony Arbolino, of Fantic Racing.

The race saw a few crashes. Right at the opening lap, Aron Canet crashed at turn 12, taking him out of the contest. Shortly after, on lap four, Iván Ortolá and David Muñoz collided and fell together at turn 3, ending their race. Collin Veijer crashed on lap seven and also retired.

The Moto2 schedule continues on June 21, when it heads to the Brno circuit for the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
