Marc Márquez grabbed pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the eighth round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the final phase of qualifying held on Saturday morning (6) at the Balaton Park circuit, the Ducati rider, who had suffered a fall at the start of the session, clocked a lap of 1:36.785, earning the top spot.
The second position was claimed by Pedro Acosta, KTM rider who was edged by Márquez by 0.053 seconds. The front row will also feature Fermín Aldeguer, third on a Gresini Ducati. Fabio Di Giannantonio, aboard a VR46 Ducati, will start from fourth place, followed by Francesco Bagnaia, fifth with a Ducati and the fastest from Q1. The championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi, starts fifth with an Aprilia.
Raúl Fernández, on a Trackhouse Aprilia, will line up sixth, just ahead of Jorge Martín, seventh on an official Aprilia. Luca Marini, who advanced from Q1, closes the third row in ninth place on a Honda. Ai Ogura, from Trackhouse, starts tenth, followed by Diogo Moreira, 11th on a LCR Honda. Jack Miller, from Pramac Yamaha, completes the list of the 12 best on the grid.
The session featured several crashes. In the opening segment, Brad Binder crashed the KTM through turns 2 and 3, ruling him out of the classification. At the start of Q2, Marc Márquez tumbled on his Ducati, getting up and returning to the bike moments later. Fabio Di Giannantonio suffered a fall at the same moment with the VR46 Ducati and also regrouped.
Also on Saturday, starting at 10:00, the Balaton Park Sprint will take place. The Hungarian MotoGP Grand Prix is scheduled for 9:00 on Sunday.
