Moto3: Uriarte Takes Late Lead to Win the Italian Grand Prix

June 3, 2026

Brian Uriarte claimed victory this Sunday, the 31st, at the Italian Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2026 Moto3 season, held at the Mugello Circuit. The Ajo rider took the lead as the final 17-lap stretch began, watched the rivals clash for the second position, and then pulled away to secure the win.

Alvaro Carpe, Uriarte’s teammate at Ajo, secured the runner-up spot, gaining momentum in the closing laps. Hakim Danish crossed the line in third for MSI, completing the podium. Adrián Fernández, racing for Leopard Racing, finished fourth after leading portions of the race, while Joel Esteban of MTA completed the top five.

Eddie O’Shea finished sixth aboard the MLav, while David Muñoz of Intact GP was seventh. Veda Pratama ended eighth with a Team Asia bike, and Joel Kelso took ninth for MLav. The top ten also featured Jesús Ríos, rider for Snipers.

Leader of the Moto3 championship, Máximo Quiles stayed among the front pack, but two late breakaways in the closing moments of the race relegated him to 11th place. Another rider who appeared sparingly during the race was Marco Morelli, who surged to third place on the penultimate lap after spending time outside the top 15. In the end, a near fall sent the Argentine to 13th place.

The next round of the 2026 Moto3 season will take place on June 7, with the Hungary Grand Prix, scheduled for the Balaton Park circuit.
