The new Toyota GR Yaris has been confirmed for the Brazilian market at the last São Paulo Auto Show and is now available for pre-sale across the country. Developed from the expertise of GAZOO Racing in motorsports and the World Rally Championship (WRC), the hot hatch arrives in two configurations – with manual or automatic transmission. Initially, both versions will be available for R$ 354,990, in a special and exclusive pre-sale condition.
The first buyers will have priority in receiving the vehicle from April and will be invited to an exclusive immersion at the Velocittà Autodrome, including track activities and rally experiences on board a GR Yaris competition car. With an initial limited series of only 198 units, being 99 of each version, the first GR Yaris will be identified by a commemorative numbered plaque on the console.
The GR Yaris is available in the colors Emotional Red, Precious Metal, Platinum White Pearl, and Precious Black, always accompanied by the characteristic exposed carbon fiber roof, 18-inch darkened forged alloy wheels, and a suede interior in BRIN NAUB® material, with leather details.
Developed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts
With DNA directly from rally tracks, the GR Yaris was designed without concessions. The air intakes on the bumpers and fenders improve cooling and aerodynamics in extreme use. The widened fenders accommodate the forged wheels and a high-performance braking system with ventilated discs, a typical solution for competition cars.
Platform and suspension for high-precision driving
Built on an exclusive GAZOO Racing structure, the GR Yaris weighs just 1,305 kg (manual) and 1,325 kg (automatic). Combining the GA-B and GA-C platforms, the model features a refined McPherson-type suspension with three mounting points at the front and a sophisticated double wishbone system at the rear.
With 15% more welding points and 15% more structural adhesives, the body had a significant increase in rigidity, which also improved the handling of the GR Yaris, a differential valued not only in motorsports but also by customers. The electric steering has undergone fine-tuning by driver Kazuya Oshima, allowing a more direct relationship between wheel and tire movement (1:1).
DNA from the tracks: the world’s most powerful three-cylinder engine
The GR Yaris comes equipped with a 1.6 turbo three-cylinder engine capable of delivering impressive 304 horsepower and 40.8 kgfm of torque, numbers that place the model among the most powerful hot hatches on the market.
To achieve this, the engine features reinforced pistons, direct fuel injection with high pressure up to 260 bar, an improved oil radiator cooling system, and an exclusive water sprayer for intercooler temperature control in extreme situations.
Purism, now in two configurations
In addition to the six-speed manual transmission with short engagements, the GR Yaris debuts in Brazil with the GR-DAT (Direct Automatic Transmission) eight-speed transmission, developed to deliver extremely fast responses and featuring an inverted operation in manual mode, following competition standards: pushing the lever for downshifts and pulling for upshifts.
Purist cabin 100% focused on the driver
The entire cabin of the new GR Yaris is exclusive and follows the driver-first concept, prioritizing the driver’s experience. Therefore, the central console is inclined at 15°, and there is space for installing additional displays in front of the passenger, a clear reference to rally cars.
The 12.3-inch digital panel offers Normal and Sport modes, with the latter being more minimalist and focused on performance information. In automatic versions, there is a dedicated display for transmission temperature and shift alerts.
For a driving posture more faithful to that of competition cars, the panel was lowered by 50 mm, the rearview mirror repositioned, and the front seats lowered by 25 mm, to improve ergonomics and guarantee a more purist feeling.
Reliability with up to 10 years of warranty
Like the GR Corolla, the GR Yaris is covered by the Toyota 10 program, an exclusive warranty extension program in the segment that allows extending coverage for up to 10 years. Without any additional cost to the owner, the benefit is automatically activated when scheduled maintenance is performed on the Toyota network after the end of the initial 5-year factory warranty period.
This additional coverage is renewable every 12 months or 10,000 km and includes body parts, cooling system, electrical and electronic components, engine, transmission, and brakes up to a maximum of 60 months (totaling 120 months when added to the initial warranty) and 200,000 km for private use or 100,000 km for commercial use – whichever comes first.
Comfort and safety equipment
To ensure maximum comfort, the hot hatch is equipped with a digital air conditioner with two temperature zones, Smart Entry key with push-button start, and a robust safety package with eight airbags (two front, two side, and four curtain) and the Toyota Safety Sense with:
* Lane Departure Warning (LTA): the system automatically warns the driver with a sound signal or vibration on the steering wheel to correct the course whenever it exceeds the lane markings.
* Lane Change Assist (LDA): the system automatically assists the driver in the lane change process, monitoring the approach of cars to prevent potential collisions.
* Pre-Collision System (PCS): support in preventing collisions and damage through sound warnings. If necessary, it automatically activates the braking system (above 20 km/h).
* High Beam with automatic switching (AHB): turns the high beam on and off to avoid dazzling the driver in front and oncoming traffic, helping to ensure ideal visibility during nighttime driving.
* Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): the system maintains a constant and safe distance from the vehicle in front, automatically adjusting speed according to traffic (for all speeds in the automatic version and above 40 km/h in the manual).
* Blind Spot Monitor (BSM): monitors the blind spot and issues alerts through a warning on the external rearview mirror.
* Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA): emits a sound warning to inform the driver of traffic behind the vehicle. The automatic version also offers the Parking Support Brake (PKSB), which, in addition to the sound alert, can act with automatic braking at speeds of up to 20 km/h.
There are also traction and stability controls with hill start assist (HAC), front and rear parking sensors, Isofix system, electrically folding mirrors, and a rearview camera that complete the comfort package.
