Toyota Launches Production of New Yaris Cross in Brazil, Entering Compact SUV Segment

January 28, 2026

Toyota Brazil has begun production of the Yaris Cross at its Sorocaba plant in São Paulo, marking the company’s entry into the compact SUV segment and expanding its portfolio of full hybrid flex models in the country. The SUV will be available in the Brazilian market starting at R$ 149,990.

The result of a cycle of investments of R$ 11.5 billion until 2030, announced in 2024, the new model symbolizes a strategic step for Toyota in the decarbonization of Brazilian mobility, combining full hybrid flex technology, energy efficiency, and low consumption. By integrating the brand’s electrified portfolio – alongside Corolla and Corolla Cross – the Yaris Cross reinforces the company’s commitment to offering sustainable mobility solutions adapted to the Latin American reality, following the global Multipathway strategy that bets on multiple technological paths to carbon neutrality in each market.

“We are at a unique moment in Toyota’s almost 70-year history in Brazil and Latin America. The arrival of the Yaris Cross represents our technological evolution and commitment to quality and more sustainable and efficient mobility,” says Evandro Maggio, president of Toyota Brazil.

The national production of the Yaris Cross will contribute to the strengthening of the Brazilian automotive chain, with the nationalization of components, generation of local jobs, and involvement of suppliers in high-tech systems. The model will also be exported to Argentina, Ecuador, and Uruguay, consolidating Brazil’s role as a strategic hub for Toyota in the region.

The Yaris Cross arrives in the market with a complete ecosystem of services: Toyota 10 Program (extended warranty of up to 10 years), Facilitated Review, connectivity package, KINTO services, and support from a network with over 300 dealerships across Brazil. The model is already available for sale at Toyota dealerships throughout the country.

With a modern design, full hybrid flex propulsion, and national production, the Yaris Cross symbolizes Toyota’s ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the development of the Brazilian automotive industry.

Full Hybrid: Exclusive Toyota Technology

The term “full hybrid” refers to Toyota’s autonomous hybrid propulsion, where the electric motor directly drives the wheels independently, combining a flex fuel combustion engine (gasoline/ethanol in any proportion) with self-rechargeable batteries. This highlights the superior efficiency and effective decarbonization, positioning the Yaris Cross as a pioneer in the Brazilian B-SUV segment.
