The 2026 Formula 2 season will resume this weekend with the Italian round held at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza. Third in the standings, Rafael Câmara is expected to rely on the tifosi’s support in Monza to draw even closer to the top of the table. The Brazilian has been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2022.
Since he began his career in cars, precisely in Italy, Câmara has always competed in Monza, delivering positive performances most of the time. In addition to a pole in F4, the driver carries one victory and two podiums at the Italian circuit from his FRECA days, and he finished fifth in Formula 3 in 2025, in a race held after the Brazilian had clinched the title.
For this weekend’s round, the Invicta Racing car number 1 driver emphasizes the importance of performing well from the free practice to contend for a good starting position in qualifying. Câmara is the pole position record holder in the current Formula 2 season, with four pole positions in nine rounds.
“First of all, free practice is very important. You learn where you need to be in qualifying, what you need to do with the team regarding the car’s setup. I think, from my side, I try to focus on the moment and on the things I can control. Whatever I can do to the car at that moment, I want to take advantage of,” Rafael Câmara said.
With two wins and five podiums in the Formula 2 season, Câmara sits in third place in the standings, in addition to collecting four pole positions. Thus, the Brazilian, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, appears third in the championship, 22 points behind the leader, with five rounds remaining in the season.
The Formula 2 schedule in Italy will begin on Friday, with the weekend’s sole free practice session and the qualifying that will determine the starting grid for the two races. Saturday will feature the Sprint, starting at 9:15, while Sunday’s main race is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. local time. Sportv, Globoplay and F1TV will broadcast all on-track actions.
