Alex Quinn, Peugeot’s reserve driver, is set to make his FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar debut at the Barcelona round this weekend.
Although the French manufacturer had previously signalled that Quinn would advance to a race seat next year, the squad had not yet formally disclosed who would step into Stoffel Vandoorne’s No. 93 Peugeot 9X8 for the season’s final two rounds after the Belgian driver exited the squad following last month’s Fuji event.
Peugeot subsequently confirmed that Quinn will contend the Barcelona and Monza rounds, with team principal Emmanuel Esnault describing the arrangement to pair him with Paul di Resta and Nick Cassidy for the closing races as an “obvious decision.”
“Knowing that he will be one of our drivers from 2027 onwards, all the experience he can gain in Barcelona and Monza will be very valuable for the future,” Esnault said.
Quinn added: “I’m really excited to get on track at Barcelona, I already feel at home with the Peugeot team, but the aim will be to get settled into the race program as streamlined as possible.”
“It’ll be a proud moment of my career, so I want to do a good job for the team but also enjoy it along the way!”
Quinn has had a successful season, clinching the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship LMP2 title with George Kurtz for Algarve Pro Racing, and he has also competed in LMP2 machinery inside the European Le Mans Series.
He has never previously contested a regular WEC event, but has appeared in three LMP2 appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including winning the Pro-Am division this year alongside Kurtz and Laurin Heinrich.
