Juan Pablo Montoya is another name who has commented on Yuki Tsunoda’s situation in Formula 1, stating that perhaps seeking opportunities outside the category would be the best path to follow.
The Japanese driver has yet to be renewed with Red Bull for the 2026 season, and his future remains highly uncertain, with rumors suggesting that Isack Hadjar will move up from Racing Bulls to become Max Verstappen’s teammate.
Many rumors are circulating around the driver’s name, including a potential move to Indy, but in F1, teams like Alpine are reportedly interested in Tsunoda. However, according to Montoya, a change of category may be the only option.
“Tsunoda’s move to Alpine could be the unexpected twist that surprises everyone. But if he’s left out, he’ll either be a reserve or have to find something else to do – and forget about Formula 1,” he said.
