Freddie Slater clinched pole position for the Formula 3 feature race. In the qualifying held this Friday (17) at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, the Trident driver and current runner-up in the championship logged his best lap at 2:05.150, securing the top spot for Sunday.
The front row will also feature Tuukka Taponen, MP Motorsport driver who was edged by 0.251 seconds by Slater. Hiyu Yamakoshi, piloting a Van Amersfoort machine, finished the session in third and will share the second row with Noah Stromsted, fourth for Trident. The third row will be formed by Ernesto Rivera, representing Campos Racing, and Mattia Colnaghi, from MP Motorsport.

Brazilian Pedro Clerot placed Rodin Motorsport seventh on Sunday’s grid, and will share the fourth row with his teammate Brando Badoer. Championship leader Ugo Ugochukwu starts ninth with Campos Racing, while Theóphile Nael, from the same squad, begins tenth. Taito Kato of ART Grand Prix and Jin Nakamura of Hitech complete the top 12, with Nakamura taking pole for the Sprint. Fernando Barrichello finished 26th with AIX.
When the session reached the final ten minutes, the red flag was shown due to an incident involving Noah Stromsted who collided with Yevan David’s car. Hiyu Yamakoshi also crashed, with involvement by Louis Sharp. The incident ended the session, securing Slater’s pole position.
The Formula 3 schedule will continue this Saturday (the 18th) with the Sprint, starting at 5:00. The main race is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30.
