The Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov won this Sunday (the 28th) the main race of the sixth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, contested at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The Campos Racing driver stayed in the battle for victory throughout the race, took advantage of an error by Alexander Dunne after the pit-stop sequence, and assumed the lead for good after Oliver Goethe visited the pits, securing his fourth victory of the year.
The second position went to Gabriele Mini, MP Motorsport driver who could not keep up with Tsolov’s pace in the late stage of the race. Goethe, in the other MP Motorsport car, used a strategy to close the race with ultra-soft tires to complete the podium in third. Rafael Câmara, Brazilian driver for Invicta Racing, finished fourth after fending off an attack from Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, while fifth went to ART Grand Prix.

Martinius Stenshorne, driving a Rodin Motorsport car, finished the race in sixth place, ahead of his teammate Alexander Dunne. Noel León, in a Campos Racing car, finished eighth, followed by Laurens van Hoepen in ninth with Trident. Joshua Durksen, from Invicta Racing, completed the top ten. Emmo Fiittipaldi crossed the line in 15th place with AIX Racing.
The race featured a Safety Car deployment on the very first lap, after a collision between Sebastián Montoya and Rafael Villagómez, who both retired. Emmo Fittipaldi hit debris on the track and punctured a tire, forcing him to visit the pits. On lap 27, Mari Boya’s engine exploded, forcing the driver to stop on track and prompting the race direction to deploy the Virtual Safety Car.
The next round of Formula 2 is scheduled for the upcoming weekend, as the category heads to England for a double-header at the Silverstone circuit.
