Rafael Câmara won this Sunday (19) the main race of the eighth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The Invicta Racing driver started from pole position, briefly lost the lead at the start, but recovered and completed the race, ended by time in first place. It is the Brazilian’s second victory of the year.
The second place went to Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, ART Grand Prix driver who briefly took the lead on the opening lap, and who benefited from a penalty against Alexander Dunne to finish just behind Câmara. Nikola Tsolov, in a Campos Racing car, finished third, benefiting from penalties against Dunne and Noel León, both for track limits.
Dunne, in a Rodin Motorsport car, finished fourth, followed by Gabriele Mini in fifth with MP Motorsport. Rafael Villagómez, from Van Amersfoort, finished sixth, right ahead of the penalized León, seventh with Campos Racing. Colton Herta, Ritomo Miyata, both drivers for Hitech, and Mari Boya, from Prema, completed the top-10 and the points zone.
The race saw the Safety Car come out. On the first lap, Dino Beganovic stalled on the track after the car failed to start, while Oliver Goethe, of MP Motorsport, stopped shortly after the first corner. Gabriele Mini touched Roman Bilinski, who spun, while Sebastian Montoya damaged the front wing.
On lap eight, Laurens van Hoepen crashed, causing another neutralization. Shortly after, the red flag was shown to clear the track and repair the barrier. There were 22 minutes of interruption, and the race moved to a timed format, rather than a number of laps.
On lap 13, with 16 minutes to go, Emmo Fittipaldi stopped in the gravel after a battle with Alexander Dunne. Unable to rejoin the track, race control was forced to trigger the Safety Car again, which neutralized the race for the third time.
Formula 2 will resume next weekend with the ninth round of the championship, scheduled for the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary.
