F2 Qatar Grand Prix: Fornaroli Claims Championship Title, Martins Wins Main Race

December 3, 2025

Leonardo Fornaroli secured the title of the 2025 Formula 2 season on Sunday (30) after the main race of the penultimate stage of the championship, held at the Lusail circuit in Qatar. The Invicta driver completed the morning’s test with a second-place finish, in a race won by Victor Martins, from ART Grand Prix, and opened up a 41-point lead over Jak Crawford, which cannot be caught by his rivals in the final stage.

Fornaroli started from pole position in the main race, but was quickly overtaken by Martins, remaining in second place, always behind his rival. The Invicta driver attempted to close the gap in the final laps, but was unable to overtake his opponent. With Crawford only in 11th place with the DAMS car, the Italian secured the title of the Formula 2 season.

Martins completed the test with a 1.265-second advantage over Fornaroli. The podium was completed by Alexander Dunne, third with Rodin. Arvid Lindblad, with a Campos Racing car, finished the race in fourth place, while Sebastian Montoya, with a Prema car, completed the list of the top five in Lusail.

Richard Verschoor, winner of the Sprint on Saturday, was sixth with MP Motorsport, followed by Nikola Tsolov, seventh with Campos Racing. Roman Stanek, from Invicta, was eighth, with Dino Beganovic, who opted for a strategy of starting with hard tires and staying at the front for most of the race, finishing ninth with Hitech. Luke Browning was tenth with Hitech.

The Safety Car was deployed on lap 15, after Oliver Goethe, driver of MP Motorsport, came to a stop on the track with problems. The restart was given two laps later.

The final stage of the 2025 Formula 2 season will be held next week at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
