Leonardo Fornaroli emerged victorious on Saturday (6) in the Sprint of the 11th stage of the 2025 Formula 2 season, held at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy. The Invicta driver overtook Dino Beganovic in the first half of the race and prevented Arvid Lindblad from closing the gap in the final laps, securing his third win of the year and extending his championship lead.
Arvid Lindblad, driving for Campos Racing, took second place but was unable to mount an effective attack on Fornaroli. Joshua Durksen, behind the wheel of an AIX Racing car, completed the podium with a third-place finish after benefiting from a five-second penalty imposed on Dino Beganovic for an infraction during the Virtual Safety Car period. Richard Verschoor, of MP Motorsport, and Roman Stanek, of Invicta, rounded out the top five.
Beganovic, driving for Hitech, finished sixth after being penalized, followed by Gabriele Mini, who took seventh place with a Prema car. The points zone also included Luke Browning, of Hitech. Josep María Martí, of Campos Racing, was ninth, while Sebastian Montoya, of Prema, finished the race in tenth place.
The race was marked by Safety Car entrances. As early as the second lap, Kush Maini spun while contesting a position with Alexander Dunne, coming to a stop on the gravel with his DAMS car. Dunne later had another incident when he made contact with Sami Meguetounif. The Rodin driver lost positions but continued racing, while the Trident representative was forced to withdraw from the competition.
On the 18th lap, the engine of Max Esterson’s Trident car developed problems, forcing the driver to pull over on the track. The race direction activated the Virtual Safety Car shortly after.
Formula 2 will conclude the 11th stage of the 2025 season with the main race on Sunday, scheduled to start at 4:45 AM.
