Joshua Durksen and Kush Maini received penalties following the qualifying session that determined the starting grid for the fourth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held on Friday (5) at the Monte Carlo street circuit in Monaco. The Paraguayan hindered a rival’s fast lap, while the Indian caused an accident. As a result, both will drop three positions on the grid for the weekend’s two races.
Durksen, who is Rafael Câmara’s teammate at Invicta Racing, impeded Maini’s lap, hindering the Indian at Turn 6 of the Monaco circuit. Consequently, he drops from tenth to thirteenth on the grid for the feature race, in addition to losing pole and moving to fourth place on the Sprint starting grid.
Maini was also penalized by three places, but for causing a collision. The ART Grand Prix driver struck Laurens van Hoepen’s car, which crashed. Thus, the Indian who would have started sixth in the feature race will start ninth, while in the Sprint he will start eighth, no longer from fifth place as initially.
John Bennett, in a Van Amersfoort car, ruined his fastest lap by causing a red flag. The English driver crashed during qualifying and was unable to return to the track. Moreover, Van Hoepen, who was involved in the accident with Maini, was allowed to start despite not having fulfilled the 107% time rule.
The Monaco F2 Sprint is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. this Saturday.
