F1: Verstappen Says Singapore Victory Could Have Been His Last With Lambiase

October 12, 2026

Gianpiero Lambiase made a surprise appearance on the podium at the Singapore Grand Prix to receive the trophy on behalf of Red Bull. In fact, Max Verstappen pointed out that this might have been his last victory working with the engineer.

The GP, as it is also known, will part ways with the Austrian team at the end of this season to join McLaren. The duo has collaborated and enjoyed a great deal of success in recent years in Formula 1.

“I did not expect him to be on the podium. That’s why I was very happy that it was him. It could very well be the last time, yes. So, in any case, this holds a very special meaning,” he told Viaplay.

The podium (L to R): Charles Leclerc (MON) Scuderia Ferrari, second; Gianpiero Lambiase (ITA) Red Bull Racing Head of Race Engineering; Max Verstappen (NLD) Red Bull Racing, race winner; Andrea Kimi Antonelli (ITA) Mercedes AMG Formula One Team, third.

During the race at Marina Bay, the four-time world champion’s radio did not work, with Lambiase giving instructions but failing to hear the response. “They couldn’t hear me. Fortunately, I could hear them, but sometimes you obviously want to ask something or convey certain information in return,” he explained.

“Fortunately, 90% of what GP said was also what I wanted to ask, so everything was fine,” he added.
