Gabriel Bortoleto doesn’t want to make excuses about his performance at the United States Formula 1 Grand Prix. Reflecting on his time at the Circuit of The Americas, he simply stated that it was a lack of rhythm in a horrific weekend.
After the checkered flag, in a conversation with Thiago Fagnani from Globo, the competitor explained that there isn’t much to say, only that it was a complicated stage and that he didn’t have the rhythm to fight for the top-10.
“There’s not much of an excuse, no. Of course, there’s always something to learn here and there, but it was a horrible weekend. We just have to look ahead and go to Mexico. We know the capacity we have, we’ve already had great races this year and ended up putting the Sauber car in the top-6, top-5, many classifications in Q3, it’s just a matter of finding that rhythm again, which I honestly think was just a difficult weekend,” he said.
“I think in Singapore we had the rhythm, we ended up getting the yellow flag there, which put us in a difficult situation, but here it’s clearly a lack of rhythm. There’s nothing to talk about, there was no bad luck, there was no this, there was no that, it was literally a lack of rhythm. From the first practice, I think we didn’t have the rhythm to be in the fight up front, there was no reason to expect that the race would be different,” he continued.
Now it’s on to Mexico, learning a new track and going all out to understand what needs to be improved on our part as a team and in general, achieving a good result there. And that’s it, there’s not much of an excuse, there’s nothing to talk about, there’s nothing to learn. It’s just a matter of looking ahead to another weekend.
