Aston Martin ended the day in high spirits at the Singapore Grand Prix in Formula 1. Following Friday’s free practice sessions, the drivers were pleased with the performance, but acknowledged that qualifying is what truly matters.
The team started the weekend on the right foot, with Fernando Alonso leading the first session at Marina Bay. In the second practice session, he finished fourth and, despite keeping an eye on the times, remained satisfied.
“From the first lap of the first practice session, I felt quite comfortable with the car and was able to find the limits quickly. The red flags didn’t help to show the full picture on the time sheet, and the real test is tomorrow, in qualifying. We’ll see what we can do and, who knows, fight for points on Sunday,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lance Stroll also maintained a position near the top of the time sheet, ending the day in sixth place. “We managed to do some good laps today. We learned a lot and changed the car’s configuration between the practice sessions,” he said.
“The track conditions were very different in the second practice session compared to the first, with the temperatures dropping and the sun setting. I had a good feeling in the car today and we seemed a bit more competitive than before. With the higher downforce, I hope this track suits our car better, so we’ll see what we can do tomorrow,” he concluded.
