Reporter Mariana Becker, who covers the Formula 1 stages for Band, shared an unusual episode she experienced during the 2024 Italian Grand Prix at the Monza circuit. The account was made during G-Day, last Thursday, when she reported that she fainted after hours of intense work under strong heat, without proper hydration.
“Last year I fainted in Monza because I didn’t hydrate during the day, I worked a lot in the heat, I was interviewing and started to feel a bit weak, already a bit dizzy, and then Hamilton was coming and turned to give another interview, and in the meantime, I fell,” the journalist said.
She explained that she was quickly rescued and taken to the circuit’s medical center.
“I was taken to the medical center, and the doctor immediately saw that I was dehydrated, asked me what I had eaten and drunk, and I said I had several coffees,” she revealed, also telling that the episode ended up resulting in a curious situation with Lewis Hamilton, who noticed her absence in the next race.
“Where were you, I was going to give you an interview and when I looked, you were no longer there?” Hamilton asked, who heard back in a joking tone that she was indeed no longer there.
Mariana continues to cover Formula 1 for Band until the end of the current season, will be at the Sao Paulo GP this weekend at Interlagos, and remains one of the most beloved and respected figures in Formula 1 coverage in Brazil.
